I’ll be honest with you, I was a little unsure about the whole culotte hype. The long shorts/skirt hybrid has me reminiscing of camping with brownies and girl guides, and I’m sure we all imagine what a pleasure that was. But the culotte has done some serious growing up, and with the last season hype over skorts… it was the logical next step.
That doesn’t stop them being tricky to wear though so I’ll take you through easy day and night ways to wear them!
Jumper, Primark last season but similar HERE and HERE.
Culottes, Topshop £40
Black Cleated Sandals, Primark – They’re still available in store but if you want to get them online, Boohoo have similar ones for £25 HERE.
Necklace, Jill Maine, a New Zealand designer.
Pairing the culottes with a slightly oversized jumper and chunky shoes makes the look feel much more relaxed. Throw in a messy top knot and you’re good to go!
A big thank you to John Lewis for this part. If you don’t already know (where have you been, under a rock?), JL are celebrating a huge 150 years of being fabulous. They sent me this super cute personalised shopper and a voucher, so a round of ‘happy birthday to you’ is in order!
I’ve posted a few photos of my sunglasses on my Instagram which you can find here. I made them myself with a little DIY. The original sunglasses were plain black (a measly £1 from Primark) and I found the flower beads on etsy here. If you’re thinking of having a go, make sure to get strong super glue so they don’t ping off at every opportunity and pick beads with flat backs like the ones I’ve used.
Midi Rings, Topshop past season but River Island have some fab ones in ATM.
Nail Varnish, Topshop £5 in shade ‘au natural’.
Moving on to my night time look…
Crop Top, New Look £6.99
Culottes, Topshop as above £40
Necklace, Primark current season available in store for just £5
Heels, Simple Patent Louboutin 100mm Pumps £425
Stressed but Well Dressed Clutch, Zara previous season.
Baker Watch, Marc Jacobs £116
Okay so I had quite a bit of fun making this!
I’m currently VERY freckled here (thank you sunshine) and wearing the new Benefit They’re Real gel eyeliner with the They’re Real mascara. It’s a perfect pairing if you ask me. I’ll be posting a full review of all the new Benefit releases soon (plus look out for a giveaway when I reach 500 followers!!).
I‘m totally sold on this summer trend. The lightweight material of the Topshop version makes them perfect for the hot weather. But what do you think? Have you spotted a pair you like to try? Do like print or plain version? Do you even like them at all? Let me know in the comments section below!
A faux-ginger, gin drinking, digital marketing gal with a thing for food styling. That was basically my old Tinder bio... Living in Leeds, I'm forever heading out for dinner, buying too many clothes, spending 50% of my money on ubers and, as of now, putting my stamp on my new apartment!
