The Ox Pasture Hall Review

I love making the most most of long weekends (petition to make every weekend a long weekend?) and so now I’ve got the perfect getaway to share with you. I’ve heard lots of rave reviews about Ox Pasture Hall, a luxury hotel in Scarborough, and was invited to come check out what the fuss was about… Spoiler alert: total dreamboat!

From the second we arrived, the staff couldn’t do enough for us (total brownie points). We we’re taken to our suite which definitely impressed. The whole place was gorgeous, the bed was marshmallowy soft and the bathroom was huge, with great selfie lighting (a blogger’s dream).
After relaxing in the suite, we pottered around the rather quirkily decorated grounds and found our way to the bar before heading into the restaurant for dinner. The restaurant has been listed in the Michelin Guide before, so we had high hopes and were SO not disappointed. Between our incredible courses of goats cheese tart for me and ham hock terrine for him and then rack of lamb and steak, we were given samples of the roast vegetable soup to try and THE most heavenly bread. I’m talking totally fluffy and delicious and just perfect. Yes I’m raving about bread, but trust me, you just have to try it. Plus it’s home baked each day.
We actually had a break between our mains and dessert as we were so full. We popped back to the bar to snuggle up in the arm chairs, in front of the wood burner until we had room for dessert. The Hazelnut Pave was a delight and Jamie was impressed by his Lemon Cheesecake. The wait staff also appeared with incredible Whiskey Sour Sorbets that completely wowed me.
Back in the bar, we spent our evening all cosy and snuggled up together. The bar was incredibly reasonably priced and well stocked – Jamie made it his personal challenge to try pretty much every whisky on offer. And after a few drinks when we got a little peckish, one of the staff members whipped up the most delicious cheese board which is quite frankly grate… Get it?
After that it was back to the room for a rather bubbly bubble bath before diving into that giant marshmallow of a bed for the night. In the morning, we were up bright and early for breakfast – full english, your own variation or omelette, plus you could help yourself to the continental selection. We headed out into Scarborough which was only ten minutes away and attempted a outfit shoot but since it was rather chilly and I had the snuffles, things got rather windswept and interesting. Instead, we ducked into some delightfully quaint stores, before going on the hunt of a coffee and some lunch.
All in all we had a fantastic stay and I would love to head back to Ox Pasture Hall right away. The food, the service, the grounds… we we’re blown away by it all. It’s the perfect romantic getaway.

Love Lucinda xx
