Whether it’s your first date or you’ve been together since before Tinder was a thing, date night is essential. Yeah, there’s nothing like getting home after work, getting into your PJs, ordering take out and bingeing on Netflix. Buuutttt as it turns out, the outside world ain’t too bad (hear me out a sec). There are actually some really great Date Night spots in Leeds. Plus, there’s retro gaming and pizza to be had…
Roxy Ballroom, Boar Lane
Roxy’s is a seriously good date spot. There’s table tennis, beer pong, pool and mini golf, so you can show off your competitive streak. Double date? Even better, more competition. The cocktails and food aren’t bad either; think American diner style fried mac n cheese, burgers and pizza, plus a twist on classic cocktails.
Crowd of Favours, Harper Street
Another one for the competitive kids. Crowd of Favours is nestled away on a side street in Leeds. It’s snug, with a well stocked bar and (the personal highlight) retro gaming consoles. Who’s up for a round of Mortal Kombat?
Hepworth’s Deli, Thorntons Arcade
Okay technically more of a date day spot but trust me, this place deserves to be talked about. The brunch offering is heavenly – go for the Asparagus Eggs or Eggs Benedict – and the deli platters are blooming delicious too. It’s also pretty hard to get any internet connection in the place (unless you ask for the Wifi password…) so if your date has to battle with Instagram for your attention, that should give them a head start.
Blackhouse, East Parade
A complete revamp of the restaurant and a brand new menu is a good enough excuse as any to visit Blackhouse. Ask for a table in the window (you’ll know why when you see it) and enjoy the Australian black filet with a glass (or you know, a bottle) of Garnacha Benabeleva.
The Alchemist, Greek Street
An obvious choice perhaps for after dinner drinks but if your date has never been to an Alchemist cocktail bar before, the dry ice and smoking guns should more than impress them. If you’re both regulars, try something new… the White Chocolate and Raspberry Martini is a personal fave.
So who’s up for a date? What’s your favourite date spot in Leeds?
A faux-ginger, gin drinking, digital marketing gal with a thing for food styling. That was basically my old Tinder bio... Living in Leeds, I'm forever heading out for dinner, buying too many clothes, spending 50% of my money on ubers and, as of now, putting my stamp on my new apartment!
