Steak School with Blackhouse, Leeds*

I adore Leeds for plenty of reasons, but one big reason is the food. From amazing brunch spots to incredible concept restaurants, there’s plenty of instagrammable plates to go around. If you know me, you’ll know I like my steak rare (or blue if I know the restaurant) so I couldn’t blooming wait to check out the steak school at Blackhouse. It also gave me a chance to nosey around the refurb – spoiler alert: it’s seriously chic…

We started the night with canapés, cocktails (ofc) and a catch-up with some of my blogger huns, before we made our way to the new extension. Our introduction to the Book of Beef (basically the Blackhouse bible) came from their specialist butcher who talked us through the ageing process that makes the steak here so fabulous. We also had a sommelier pairing the perfect wine with each cut.

As we learned about each cut, the wait staff presented the cooked counterparts for us to enjoy. Served with everything, from mini Yorkshire puddings and gravy to tiny parcels of fries (adorable), the whole experience was perfection. The Australian grain fed fillet was the highlight, served with Béarnaise sauce and expertly paired with a glass of Garnacha Benabeleva. blackhouse_steak_school_leeds_review-008blackhouse_steak_school_leeds_review-009blackhouse_steak_school_leeds_review-010
Dessert was a delightful selection of treats, with cream and fruit filled meringue and lemon posset style mousse. After dinner, the heaters were lit, the roof pulled back and we ended the night with smoking cocktails under the stars… which is pretty great ending in my books.

Thanks to Blackhouse and the Pink Gorilla team for having me.
