When it comes to shoes a. I have too many and b. I like ’em comfy. I used to be all about heels but I’ve always had a love for Vans, and these days you’re more likely to find me in a pair of flats (or sparkly ankle boots… but you get my gist). I’ve worn out countless pairs of Vans and Converse over the years, especially in my teens, paired with skinny jeans and band tees. With the first women’s Footasylum store opening in Leeds, I decided to pick-up a fresh pair and style them up for my current fashion aesthetic…
Ditching the skinny jeans, I’ve paired my Vans with a dress. It’s still go a casual vibe, with a check shirt I stole from the boyfriend tied around my waist. I’ve dressed it up with the accessories – my trusty Marc Jacobs Baker watch and those H&M earrings that everybody seems to own. I’m so tempted to add the navy versions to my collection.
And ummm, can we just all fangirl over how flattering that dress is? It’s a previous season from Zara but I’ve linked a few similar options above, in various colour ways. The ribbed knit style makes it fitted without that ‘clinging on for dear life vibe’. I also have days where I don’t feel as confident about my tummy so adding the shirt was half a style factor, half a confidence factor.
Make-up wise, I kept it subtle, with natural looking brows and a nude lip (Jeffree Star’s celebrity skin velour liquid lipstick). This look took me from a weekend coffee date to cocktails and I couldn’t help sashaying my way up the cobbled streets.
What do you think? Would you style Vans like this?
A faux-ginger, gin drinking, digital marketing gal with a thing for food styling. That was basically my old Tinder bio... Living in Leeds, I'm forever heading out for dinner, buying too many clothes, spending 50% of my money on ubers and, as of now, putting my stamp on my new apartment!
